Analysis of fipronil and metabolites of fipronil in eggs by LC-MS/MS

open access: yesHeavy metals and arsenic concentrations in water, agricultural soil, and rice in Ngan Son district, Bac Kan province, Vietnam, 2019
A simple, sensitive and reliable method was developed and applied to determine fipronil and its metabolites in chicken egg by means of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Chicken egg samples were extracted with water and acetonitrile, added with DisQuE salt, shaken and then centrifuged.

Fipronil sulfone induced higher cytotoxicity than fipronil in SH-SY5Y cells: Protection by antioxidants

open access: yesToxicology Letters, 2016
Fipronil is a broad spectrum insecticide from the phenyl pyrazole family, which targets GABA receptor. Limited information is available about the metabolite fipronil sulfone cytotoxic actions. This study examined in vitro neurotoxicity of fipronil and fipronil sulfone and evaluated Trolox (vitamin E analog) (0.3, 1μM), N-acetyl-cysteine (0.5, 1mM ...

Potential of alternative control of leaf‐cutting ants using essential oils: A systematic review

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 497-511, November 2025.
Abstract Leaf‐cutting ants (LCAs) are abundant and cause considerable damage to agricultural and forest crops in the Neotropical region and are commonly controlled using sulfluramid‐based ant baits. However, this active ingredient is a precursor of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), a persistent, human‐made pollutant that poses serious environmental

Aboveground biomass accumulation in Brazilian semi‐deciduous seasonal Atlantic Forest restoration sites over a 20‐year time series

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 8, November 2025.
The role of forests undergoing restoration in mitigating climate change is widely accepted. However, periodic assessment of aboveground biomass (AGB) accumulation in actively restored areas is scarce, particularly in tropical forests. Here, we estimated AGB as an indicator of carbon stocks in six Atlantic Forest native species reforestations aged 4–20 ...
