Karatsuba implementation of FIR filters
In this paper, the authors propose the implementation of a programmable Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter based on the use of the Karatsuba formula. The Karatsuba formula is used to speed-up the multiplication of large numbers by splitting the operands in two parts of equal length.

Optimal Factoring of FIR Filters
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2015New insights suggest that the most efficient FIR digital filters can be created by using a scaled sequence of stages, each representing a factor of the filter's transfer function. A crucial capability for building such filters concerns finding the best FIR filter factors, then carefully scaling and sequencing them.

A new Bernstein approximant for minimax filters is suggested. Explicit solutions for maximally flat and monotonic filters are obtained as a special case of the new Bernstein approximant for all linear-phase finite impulse response (FIR) filter types. A design technique starting from arbitrary specifications is described.

A Fast FIR filtering technique for multirate filters
Integration, 2016This paper presents a technique for applying Fast FIR Algorithms (FFAs) to interpolation and decimation filters. In the event that the prototype filter has a symmetric impulse response, it is shown that the subfilters which result from the application of the FFA will be jointly symmetric.

Coefficient inaccuracy in FIR filters
ICASSP '79. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005Coefficient inaccuracy in FIR filters is known to degrade the frequency response particularly in stopband regions. The magnitude of the stopband degradation increases with the number of stages N, the length of the impulse response. A widely used formula for the error in frequency response is proportional to \sqrt{N} .

This paper introduces a new generalized class of median-type filters which we call FIR-median hybrid (FMH) filters. The input signal x(n) is filtered with M linear phase FIR filters, and the output of the FMH filter is the median of the outputs of the FIR filters.

On adaptive interpolated FIR filters
2004 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2004The computational complexity and memory load of the adaptive finite impulse response (AFIR) filter are significant for a large filter size. The adaptive interpolated FIR (AIFIR) filter, which uses a sparse adaptive filter followed by an interpolator, has been shown to be a better alternative.
