FIR Digital Filters

2021
FIR digital filters are discussed in this chapter. We learn the following frequency pass-and-stop filter design approaches: window method, inverse DFT method, weighted least-squares technique, and Parks-McMillan min-max equiripple design. We write Matlab programs implementing most of the discussed methods.

Design of FIR filters

2011
The term “filter” is used for LTI systems that alter their input signals in a prescribed way. Frequency-selective filters, the subject of this chapter, are designed to pass a set of desired frequency components from a mixture of desired and undesired components or to shape the spectrum of the input signal in a desired way.

FIR Digital Filters

2018
A finite impulse response (FIR) digital filter, as the name implies, has an impulse response sequence that is of finite duration as opposed to an IIR digital filter, which has an impulse response that is of infinite duration. Therefore, the Z-transform of the impulse response of an FIR digital filter in general can be written ...

FIR Filter Design

2015
The beginning of this chapter contains general considerations about the design of a digital filter. The form in which the filter specifications must be expressed by the designer are illustrated, and the reasons why an IIR or an FIR filter might be preferred are listed. Then the discussion focuses on the design of linear phase (LP) or generalized linear
