Evaluation of WRF-Sfire Performance with Field Observations from the FireFlux experiment [PDF]
This study uses in-situ measurements collected during the FireFlux field experiment to evaluate and improve the performance of coupled atmosphere-fire model WRF-Sfire.

Global Emergence of Anthropogenic Climate Change in Fire Weather Indices
Changes in global fire activity are influenced by a multitude of factors including land‐cover change, policies, and climatic conditions. This study uses 17 climate models to evaluate when changes in fire weather, as realized through the Fire Weather ...

Analysis of the impact of high temperature on the change in tensile strength of cement mortars with or without polypropylene fibres added [PDF]
When evaluating concrete, its strength is the most important feature from the practical point of view. In compliance with technological requirements, the strength of concrete depends primarily on its composition, mainly on the content and strength of ...

Coupled atmosphere-wildland fire modeling with WRF-Fire
We describe the physical model, numerical algorithms, and software structure of WRF-Fire. WRF-Fire consists of a fire-spread model, implemented by the level-set method, coupled with the Weather Research and Forecasting model. In every time step, the fire

From fire whirls to blue whirls and combustion with reduced pollution. [PDF]
Fire whirls are powerful, spinning disasters for people and surroundings when they occur in large urban and wildland fires. Whereas fire whirls have been studied for fire-safety applications, previous research has yet to harness their potential burning ...

CDT1 is an essential protein for DNA replication licensing that loads the MCM complex, the eukaryotic replicative DNA helicase, onto replication origins. Overexpression of CDT1 induces cell cycle arrest at the S phase. Here we showed CDT1 inhibits the progression of replication forks by interacting with the MCM complex, leading to the stalling and ...

Quantitative Analysis of Genealogy Using Digitised Family Trees [PDF]
Driven by the popularity of television shows such as Who Do You Think You Are? many millions of users have uploaded their family tree to web projects such as WikiTree. Analysis of this corpus enables us to investigate genealogy computationally. The study

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.
