Fire Behavior of Masonry Walls
Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineeringe, 2009A coupled hydro-thermal model is developed to study the phase-change process within partially saturated porous media. During the heating process (up to 1100°C), the increase of temperature in the medium is characterized by a plateau at a boiling point (around 100°C) revealing the energy absorption due to phase-change (liquid-vapor). In order to analyze

Fire behavior of polymethylmethacrylate
Combustion and Flame, 1992Abstract A comprehensive study on the flammability, flame spread, and flame extinction behaviors of polymethylmethacrylate slabs and cylinders is presented. These behaviors have been quantified simultaneously for the first time in the Factory Mutual Research Corporation's 50 kW-Scale Flammability Apparatus.

Fire weather and fire behavior in the 1966 loop fire
Fire Technology, 1968Southern California regularly experiences a wind condition known as the Santa Ana winds. This paper describes the phenomenon and the effects it had on fire behavior during the 1966 Loop Fire in the Angeles National Forest, which claimed the lives of 12 fire fighters.

Multiple factors effect the crowd behavior like number of occupants, available exits and most importantly the number of obstacles which comes into the way of people during evacuation however obstacles can slow down the speed of evacuation but they may also accelerate the evacuation rate.

Fire modeling and fire behavior in rooms
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1981A brief review is made of fire modelling including reference to some fire models not involving combustion processes. Current fire models are capable of accommodating considerable complexities but the paper describes a new simple model of the compartment fire, which despite its crudity illustrates several features of room fires.

Abstract A computer-based fire model is a scientific mathematical representation of a fire. Computer simulations incorporate to some degree the many chemical and physical processes taking place. Structural fire behavior is considered with emphasis on fire development (burning rates, radiant ignition, flashover and backdraft ...

Suicidal behavior among Finnish fire setters
European Archives of Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience, 1997Histories of serious suicide attempts and slashing were investigated among Finnish fire setters. Medical and criminal records of 304 fire setters were examined to compare those who had attempted suicide with those who had not, and those who had slashed themselves with those who had not using biological, diagnostic, and demographic variables. Major mood

Fire-Setting Behavior Associated with Klinefelter Syndrome
The International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, 2002This is a report on a male patient with a previous history of psychotic disorder who was arrested for arson. During the following hospitalization in a psychiatric unit, a genetic syndrome, namely Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY), was diagnosed. The association between fire-setting behavior and Klinefelter syndrome is reviewed, and the underlying ...

Fuel and Fire Behavior Description
2021Vegetation often fuels fires. We describe both vegetation fuels and how fires burn with specific terms central to understanding fire science and management. Fuel type, amount (load), and structure mediate both the effects of fire on ecosystems and human impacts on fires.

1994
An enclosed pool fire was simulated by injecting ethane through a 6.2 cm diameter porous plate. The diffusion flame was investigated at low, normal and high gravity to 12 g. From scaling relations based on Froude modelling, the experimental flame characteristics (height, fluctuation frequency and radiant fraction of the flame) were correlated.
