A fire suppression model for forested range of the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq herds of caribou

open access: yesRangifer, 1996
A fire suppression model was developed for forested winter range of the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq (formerly Kaminuriak) herds of barren-ground caribou (Rangifer tarandus groenlandicus) in north-central Canada.

Effects of large herbivores on grassland arthropod diversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Both arthropods and large grazing herbivores are important components and drivers of biodiversity in grassland ecosystems, but a synthesis of how arthropod diversity is affected by large herbivores has been largely missing. To fill this gap, we conducted

Utilization of Waste Materials Using the Müller–Kühne Process—A Life Cycle Inventory Study

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This study presents a Life Cycle Inventory of the Müller–Kühne process (MKP), which converts gypsum waste into sulfuric acid and cement clinker. The MKP outperforms conventional cement production regarding material yield, though its specific energy demand is higher. Consequently, potentials for circular gypsum waste utilization are discussed.

A Study of High‐Emission Industries: How Policy, Strategy, and Technology Shape Corporate Social Responsibility Toward Carbon Neutrality

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The extant carbon neutrality (CN) literature largely offers macro‐ or meso‐level analyses, providing limited insights into implementation experiences that could inform granular policymaking and industry strategies. To address this gap, we examine the lived CN experiences of firms in the transportation, energy, manufacturing, and construction ...

Fire ecology in marine systems

open access: yesTrends in Ecology & Evolution
Wildfire byproducts enter into the oceans via terrestrial and atmospheric routes. They pose a challenge to the sustainability of marine ecosystems, especially under the current increase in fire activity. Research is needed to unravel the dynamics between wildfires and marine life, and the oceans' potential to mitigate wildfire emissions.

Effects of prescribed fire on Cope’s Gray Treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis) across habitat scales and life stages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fire may alter both aquatic and terrestrial habitat used by all amphibian life stages, yet, our knowledge of its effects on amphibians is primarily limited to adult responses. I present an integrated approach to test the response of Cope’s Gray Treefrog (

Collapse of a desert bird community over the past century driven by climate change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
