Fire Risk Modelling

1999
Hydrocarbon leaks and subsequent fire and/or explosion are one of the main threats to offshore exploration and production/processing of hydrocarbon oil and gas. The chapter gives an overview of different fire types that may occur on offshore installations, as well as a brief introduction to the main characteristics of the main types of fire.

Model of large pool fires

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2006
A two zone entrainment model of pool fires is proposed to depict the fluid flow and flame properties of the fire. Consisting of combustion and plume zones, it provides a consistent scheme for developing non-dimensional scaling parameters for correlating and extrapolating pool fire visible flame length, flame tilt, surface emissive power, and fuel ...

Chemical Modeling of Fire Gases

Journal of Fire Sciences, 1995
When a fuel containing C, H, and O burns, CO2 and H2O are the major combustion products and, depending on the conditions, CO, unburnt gasified fuel, and other products of incomplete combustion are produced. In this paper, chemical modeling to calculate rates of generation and mass fractions of various products in reference to the fuel/O2 equivalence ...

CFD Modeling of Tunnel Fires

2014
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling has been widely used for performance-based tunnel fire safety design in engineering applications. A CFD tool divides a computation domain into a large number of small cells, and solves a set of differential equations with sub-models using different solution algorithms.

Fire modeling and fire behavior in rooms

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1981
A brief review is made of fire modelling including reference to some fire models not involving combustion processes. Current fire models are capable of accommodating considerable complexities but the paper describes a new simple model of the compartment fire, which despite its crudity illustrates several features of room fires.

Numerical Modeling of Aircraft Fire: Postcrash Fire

Journal of Aircraft
The Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) model was utilized in this study to replicate a full-scale aircraft postcrash experiment conducted within the C-133 test facility by the Federal Aviation Administration. FDS is a computational fire field model that incorporates submodels for soot formation, pyrolysis, and thermal radiation transport.

Computer fire models

2018
Fire scientists and engineers have created a world of mathematical and computer-based analytical tools to explain and predict fire growth and behaviors. These tools are widely used to plan sprinkler systems, smoke detection and control systems, and other fire safety measures.
