Responses of Plant Biomass in the Brazilian Savanna to Frequent Fires
Fire has been a natural feature of the ecosystem for million years. Still, currently fire regimes have been increasingly altered by human activities and climate change, causing economic losses, air pollution, and environmental damage. In Brazil, savannas

HESFIRE: a global fire model to explore the role of anthropogenic and weather drivers [PDF]
Vegetation fires are a major driver of ecosystem dynamics and greenhouse gas emissions. Anticipating potential changes in fire activity and their impacts relies first on a realistic model of fire activity (e.g., fire incidence and interannual variability)

A forest fire rescue strategy based on variable extinguishing rate
In mathematics, forest fires are mainly described by the fire spread model. The model analyzes the tree-to-tree (T2T) spread of the fire, providing the optimal solution for rescuers.

Fire resistance of steel beam to square CFST column composite joints using RC slabs: Experiments and numerical studies [PDF]
In this paper, experimental investigation and numerical simulation of steel beam to square concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) column composite joints that use reinforced concrete (RC) slabs subjected to localized and global fire conditions are presented ...

Communications—Rand-HUD Fire Models [PDF]
The March, 1978 issue of Management Science carried a paper by Jan M. Chaiken titled “Transfer of Emergency Service Deployment Models to Operating Agencies” which purported to describe the successful implementation of, among other things, fire service management models developed by the Rand Corporation for the Office of Policy Development and Research

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Expanded Parameters in the Self-Organized Critical Forest Fire Model [PDF]
The forest fire model has frequently been used as a way to test the theory of Self-Organized Criticality, which is a model of complexity. The model analyzes commonalities in randomly generated forest fires using a computer simulation. In previous models,
