Synoptic circulation control on wild fire occurrence
Abstract Wild fires have gained increasing interest during the last decade worldwide. Millions of hectares are burned out every year in various countries in all continents. Most of them are burned by the villagers to increase the areas which are available to cultivation but many fires also start by natural causes.

Contextual fear conditioning induces BNIP3L‐dependent mitochondrial fission in glutamatergic neurons of the BLA, independently of mitophagy. Loss of BNIP3L elevates Drp1Ser637 phosphorylation, thereby suppressing mitochondrial fission, compromising ATP production, and attenuating excitatory synaptic transmission.

Decoding Naturalistic Episodic Memory with Artificial Intelligence and Brain‐Machine Interface
Episodic memory weaves together what, where, and when of experience into a personal narrative. Cutting‐edge AI models may decode this intricate process in real‐life settings, revealing how neural activity encodes naturalistic memories. By merging AI with brain–machine interfaces, researchers are edging closer to mapping and even engineering memory ...

Paraventricular CRF neurons in the hypothalamus project to glutamatergic neurons of the spinal trigeminal caudal nucleus, enhancing neuronal activation and CRFR2 signaling. This pathway increases CRF release and excitatory drive, promoting central sensitization and migraine‐related behaviors. Targeting the PVN–SP5C circuit provides a potential strategy

Changing patterns of fire occurrence in proximity to forest edges, roads and rivers between NW Amazonian countries [PDF]
Tropical forests in NW Amazonia are highly threatened by the expansion of the agricultural frontier and subsequent deforestation. Fire is used, both directly and indirectly, in Brazilian Amazonia to propagate deforestation and increase forest ...

Modelling fire occurrence at regional scale: does vegetation phenology matter?
Through its influence on biomass production, climate controls fuel availability affecting at the same time fuel moisture and flammability, which are the main determinants for fire ignition and prop...

This cross‐species study reveals that pathological hyperactivity of BNST neurons in depressive states disrupts inhibitory period and isolated spikes in the BNST‐NAc circuit. DBS achieves its antidepressant effects by precisely restoring network inhibitory periods and high‐fidelity signal transmission.

Dorsal Raphe VIP Neurons Are Critical for Survival‐Oriented Vigilance
DRNVIP neurons in mice and primates are strategically positioned to influence the central extended amygdala via feedback loops. They regulate the excitability of PKC‐δ neurons in the ovBNST and CeA through glutamate release. Their ablation heightens activity in these regions, disrupts active‐phase sleep architecture, enhances risk assessment behaviors ...
