MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) hotspot and precipitation data for the most recent 11-year period (2002 to 2012) were analyzed to elucidate recent trends in the seasonal and spatial fire occurrence in Sumatra and the relationship with precipitation. Using a latitude line of S 0.5°, Sumatra was divided into two regions, N.

Towards a study of fire occurrences in Indonesia
Abstract In the past 5 years, the issue of forest and peatland fires in Indonesia has received a major concern from various parties. As one of the prevention efforts, the Government of Indonesia seeks to prevent the ignition of forest and peatland fires both anthropogenic and naturally as a result of prolonged drought.

A Proton‐Intercalation Pathway Realizes Long‐Life Manganese‐Ion Hybrid Batteries With Layered KV3O8
This is the first study to demonstrate layered monoclinic KV3O8 as a highly stable cathode material for aqueous Mn‐based hybrid batteries, exhibiting excellent cycling stability with 88.0% capacity retention after 3600 cycles. The proton storage mechanism is systematically elucidated through comprehensive spectroscopic analyses, further supported by ...

Exploring Human-Caused Fire Occurrence Prediction
Wildland Fire Science has become an increasingly hot topic in recent years. The goal of this report is to investigate human-caused wildland fire occurrence prediction. The two main predictors of interest are the mean value of the Fine Fuel Moisture Code (FFMC) and the month when a fire ignites.

Organic Thin‐Film Transistors for Neuromorphic Computing
Organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) are reviewed for neuromorphic computing applications, highlighting their power‐efficient, and biological time‐scale operation. This article surveys OFET and OECT devices, compares them with memristors and CMOS, analyzes how fabrication parameters shape spike‐based metrics, proposes standardized characterization ...

Synchronization of Analog Neuron Circuits With Digital Memristive Synapses: An Hybrid Approach
An hybrid circuit mimicking neural units coupled using memristive synapses is introduced. The analog neurons provide flexibility and robustness, and the digital memristive coupling guarantees the full reconfigurability of the interconnection. The onset of a synchronized spiking behavior in two circuits mimicking the Izhikevich neuron is discussed from ...

Impact of Discharging Methods on Electrode Integrity in Recycling of Lithium‐Ion Batteries
Electrical and electrochemical discharge methods for end‐of‐life lithium‐ion batteries are compared. Electrochemical discharge better preserves the composition and layered structure of Ni‐rich cathode materials while minimizing residual lithium compounds.
