Unlocking fired wedge performance
2008 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition, 2008Fired wedge connectors provide superior field reliability and perform better in industry standard tests than other connector technologies such as bolted and compression styles. This performance has been elusive to replicate even for bolted versions of wedge connectors. A survey of production connectors revealed qualitative and quantitative differences.

Evaluating fire shelter performance in experimental crown fires
Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 2004Fire shelters are critical safety items required for use by most wildland firefighters in the United States. Most testing of fire shelters, clothing and other personal protective equipment (PPE) has been limited to prescribed fires or laboratory based studies.

Fire performance of fire‐retardant wood fiberboard ceiling tile
Fire and Materials, 1992AbstractWood fiberboard‐based, cellulose ceiling tiles have been used for many years. While various fire‐retardant technologies have been developed to reduce the surface flammability of these products to acceptable levels, questions of their suitability for use due to their intrinsic fuel value and the impact of attachment methods used on fire ...

Fire Performance Of Timber Structures Under Natural Fire Conditions
Fire Safety Science, 2005In recent years the use of wood as a building material has become popular, especially for dwellings. One of the preconditions for its use is adequate fire safety. Technical measures, especially sprinkler and smoke detection systems, well equipped fire brigades and a better knowledge in the area of structural fire design of timber structures allow the ...

Fire and Post-Fire Performance of Space Grid Structures
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012A fire performance finite element (FE) model of space grid structures in fire and after fire is proposed, and deformation, stress redistribution, failure modes of grid structures are also studied. The result shows that tensile membrane action arises when the grid is loaded after fire, and the load bearing capacity after fire is reduced by fire damage.

Fire Response of High-Performance Concrete Frames and Their Post-Fire Seismic Performance
ACI Structural Journal, 2008Polypropylene (PP) fibers are usually applied to alleviate or prevent the explosive spalling of high-performance concrete (HPC) when exposed to fire. This paper presents an extensive experimental study on the fire response of frame structures constructed with HPC as well as the post-fire seismic performance.
