‘Turkeys Cannot Vote for Christmas’: Why Epistemic Disobedience in an Anti‐Black World Matters
ABSTRACT Never in the history of global coloniality has the idea of epistemic disobedience been as important as in the 21st century. This is not only because the struggle for decolonisation has shifted from physical confrontation between the coloniser and the colonised into a battle of ideas but also because the former has deployed the idea of ...

The Politics of Framing the Student Problem: Inquiries Into Australian Civics Education, 2006–2024
ABSTRACT Recurring debates about civics, the kinds of history that should, and should not, be taught in school, and ‘standards debates’ about the ‘basics’ typically follow on the heels of recurring moral panics about the ‘declining’ state of ‘our’ education system.

ABSTRACT Background To determine the safety and efficacy of laser ablation of the posterior nasal nerve (PNN) for the treatment of chronic rhinitis. Methods This study was a single‐center, prospective, single‐blinded, randomized sham‐controlled trial. Patients with a 24‐h reflective Total Nasal Symptom Score (rTNSS) ≧ 5, rhinorrhea ≧ 2, and congestion ≧

Objective Cerebral ischemic stroke causes neuronal oxygen/energy deprivation, disrupting mitochondrial function including reduced membrane potential and bioenergetics, exacerbating neuronal injury. Mitochondrial defects are, therefore, a central neuropathological node and potential therapeutic target.

Fire Resistance of Fire‐Resistant Steel Columns
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1994This paper is to verify the fire resistance of columns made from fire‐resistant (FR) structural steel by means of a full‐scale loaded heat test and numerical analysis. Because of the elements contained, FR steel has higher strength than conventional structural steel at elevated temperatures.

2013
This chapter is concerned with the design and characterisation of fire-resistant steels for building construction. Issues raised include effects of alloy additions, controlling the grain size, properties of substitutional elements, and processing, centred on the property requirements for fire-resistant steels.

Forest-fire model with natural fire resistance
Physical Review E, 2011Observations suggest that contemporary wildfire suppression practices in the United States have contributed to conditions that facilitate large, destructive fires. We introduce a forest-fire model with natural fire resistance that supports this theory. Fire resistance is defined with respect to the size and shape of clusters; the model yields power-law

Fire Resistant Fluid Development
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1963<div class="htmlview paragraph">The background of the development of fire resistant fluids for Navy hydraulic and compressed air systems is described. Experiences in the use of such fluids and factors considered in their selection and evaluation are discussed. While progress has been made, more research and development effort is required. Present

Fire Resistance and Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids
2013Hydraulic fluids that are used in the majority of industrial applications have traditionally been based on mineral oil, but the properties of oil do not meet every technical requirement. This chapter examines the different types of “fire-resistant” hydraulic fluid currently in commercial use and their properties and limitations in service.
