Physical Demand Assessment of Volunteer Firefighters During Wildland Firefighting
Wildland firefighting is physically and mentally demanding. The aerobic capacity of firefighters is important due to the demands of the activity and the associated occupational risks. The main objectives of this study were to identify and characterise the physically demanding tasks undertaken by volunteer firefighters during wildland fires (real work ...

Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in agriculture represent a growing global challenge for food safety and public health. In this review, we synthesized evidence on how substances such as pharmaceuticals, microplastics, and per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) enter soils, accumulate in crops, and affect ecological and human health. We found

7.1 THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF LIVE FIREFIGHTING ON ARTERIAL FUNCTION IN FIREFIGHTERS
Background: Aging is associated with increased arterial stiffness and wave reflection, which is predictive of all-cause cardiovascular (CV) mortality (1–3). Firefighters have the highest cardiovascular mortality of any occupational group (4). High levels

Assessing wildfire dynamics during a megafire in Portugal using the MesoNH/ForeFire coupled model
Weather conditions affect megafires by inducing different fire behaviors over several days or weeks. The coupled MesoNH/ForeFire code was used to represent the dynamics of fire generating pyro‐convective clouds. To advance the understanding of wildfire dynamics, high‐resolution coupled fire–atmosphere modeling was employed.
