Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

The complete mitogenome and phylogenetic analysis of Japanese firefly ‘Genji Botaru’ Luciola cruciata (Coleoptera: Lampyridae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
We performed mitogenome analysis of Japanese firefly Luciola cruciata (Coleoptera: Lampyridae), which is unique species in Japan. It is classified into six haplotypes based on the difference of COII sequence on mitochondrial DNA.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Key homeobox transcription factors regulate the development of the firefly’s adult light organ and bioluminescence

open access: yesNature Communications
Adult fireflies exhibit unique flashing courtship signals, emitted by specialized light organs, which develop mostly independently from larval light organs during the pupal stage.

Yin-Yang firefly algorithm based on dimensionally Cauchy mutation

open access: yesExpert systems with applications, 2020
Firefly algorithm (FA) is a classical and efficient swarm intelligence optimization method and has a natural capability to address multimodal optimization. However, it suffers from premature convergence and low stability in the solution quality.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
