Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Endoscopic versus open surgery for insertional achilles tendinopathy: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of comparative outcomes

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose Insertional Achilles tendinopathy (IAT) causes chronic hindfoot pain and functional impairment. Although conservative treatment remains the first‐line management approach, surgery is often necessary when nonoperative measures fail.

Mapping the acute trajectory of sport-related concussion outcomes across symptoms, cognition, and blood biomarkers

open access: yesSports Medicine and Health Science
Sport-related concussion (SRC) and its potential neurological sequela represent an emerging global health concern, requiring improved recovery management and strategies for return-to-play (RTP) to enhance brain health in athletes.

Intranasal Orexin After Cardiac Arrest Leads to Increased Electroencephalographic Gamma Activity and Enhanced Neurologic Recovery in Rats

open access: yesCritical Care Explorations, 2021
Objectives:. Prolonged cardiac arrest is known to cause global ischemic brain injury and functional impairment. Upon resuscitation, electroencephalographic recordings of brain activity begin to resume and can potentially be used to monitor neurologic ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.
