Lactation patterns in Egyptian women I. Milk yield during the first year of lactation

Journal of Biosocial Science, 1972
The milk yield in a group of lactating Egyptian women was estimated during the first twelve post-partum months. It increased from the second to the seventh month, then dropped gradually in the last four months. The best milk yield was found in women aged 20–30 years, with a parity of two to four and an inter-delivery interval of 30–36 months.

Age at first calving in UK Jersey cattle and its associations with first lactation 305-day milk yield, lifetime daily milk yield, calving interval and survival to second lactation

Veterinary Record, 2020
The association between age at fist calving (AFC) and production, fertility and survivability in Jersey heifers requires evaluation and comparison with published literature on Holstein heifers.Lactation records from 7256 pedigree Jersey heifers were grouped by AFC.

Genetic and environmental control of first-lactation milk yield in cows and buffaloes

Livestock Production Science, 1987
Abstract Sire evaluations, heritabilities, genetic and time trends and seasonal variation for first lactation records of 1680 buffaloes and high grades of Friesian cows were estimated by means of best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) and approximate maximum likelihood procedures. Cows produced higher milk yields than buffaloes. Herd differences were

RELATION OF PREPUBERTAL SERUM STEROID PROFILES TO FIRST LACTATION MILK YIELD

Canadian Journal of Animal Science, 1987
Correlation between prepubertal serum sex steroids and subsequent lactation performance was investigated with 98 Holstein, Ayrshire and crossbred heifers in the hope of finding a precise criterion for early selection. Blood samples were collected from the heifers at 100, 130, 160 and 190 d of age. Initially samples from the first 25 animals to provide

Genetic Analysis of First Lactation Monthly Test Day Milk Yields, Peak Yield and 305 Days Milk Yield in Murrah Buffaloes

Indian Journal of Animal Research, 2020
Background: The estimates of genetic parameters are useful in determining the appropriate method of selection that could further be implemented in the breed improvement programmes. The present study was, therefore, conducted to estimate the genetic parameters (heritability, genetic and phenotypic correlations) for monthly test day (TD) milk yields ...

Evaluating Peak Milk Yield as a Predictor for First Lactation 305-Day Milk Yield in Murrah Buffaloes

Indian Journal of Animal Research
Background: Peak milk yield is an important early observable trait that holds immense practical significance in dairy farming. It is often utilized to assess the production potential of dairy animals under field conditions. Therefore, the present study aimed to predict the first lactation 305-day milk yield (FL305DMY) based on peak milk yield (PY) and ...
