New distribution records for Sciomyzidae (Diptera) from the Pantanal, Brazil [PDF]

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

First macrofossil record of Begonia (Begoniaceae) [PDF]

Begonia is the sixth-largest genus of flowering plants, with about 1400-1500 species in 66 sections. Several species are popular with horticulturalists, mainly for their colorful flowers and leaves. A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

Check list of the Hungarian Salticidae with biogeographical notes

Records of the Palni Hills Rudraksha Tree Elaeocarpus blascoi (Oxalidales Elaeocarpaceae) in Palni Hills, Tamil Nadu, India

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
