Upacicalcet: A Novel Intravenous Calcimimetic Agent for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Variational first-order partial differential equations

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 2003
Let \(\pi_1: J^1 Y\to X\) be the jet prolongation of a fibered manifold \(\pi: Y\to X\). Denoting \((x^i, y^\sigma, y^\sigma_j)\) the local fibered coordinates and \(\omega^\sigma= dy^\sigma- \sum y^\sigma_j dx^j\) the contact forms on \(J^1Y\), the article is devoted to formal algebraic properties of the multiple variational integral \(\int\rho ...

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

First Order Hadamard Variation of the Harmonic Navigation Function on a Sphere World

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2018
Planning conflict-free trajectories is a long-standing problem in Air Traffic Management. Navigation functions designed specifically to produce flyable trajectories have been previously considered, but lack the robustness to uncertain weather conditions ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Variational first-order quasilinear equations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The systems of first-order quasilinear partial differential equations defined on the 1-jet bundle of a fibred manifold which come from a variational problem defined by an affine Lagrangian are characterized by means of the Hamilton-Cartan formalism and the theory of formal integrability.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
