Desperate times call for desperate measures: government spending multipliers in hard times [PDF]

open access: yesEconomic Inquiry, 58(4) October 2020, pp. 1949-1957, 2019
We investigate state-dependent effects of fiscal multipliers and allow for endogenous sample splitting to determine whether the US economy is in a slack state. When the endogenized slack state is estimated as the period of the unemployment rate higher than about 12 percent, the estimated cumulative multipliers are significantly larger during slack ...

Fiscal policies and growth [PDF]

open access: yesResearch Papers in Economics, 1996
In this work we present an endogenous growth model where the Government finances a pubblic good by imposing two taxes, one on the return of the accumlative factor and the other on the return of the not accumulative factor. In an economy where individuals have different initial factor endowments, we determine the fiscal policy that maximizes the growth ...

Concepts for a Semantically Accessible Materials Data Space: Overview over Specific Implementations in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This manuscript presents advances in digital transformation within materials science and engineering, emphasizing the role of the MaterialDigital Initiative. By testing and applying concepts such as ontologies, knowledge graphs, and integrated workflows, it promotes semantic interoperability and data‐driven innovation. The article reviews collaborative

Fiscal transparency and policy rules in Poland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper assesses the current stance and desirable progress in the implementation of fiscal transparency and rules in Poland. An index of transparency based on Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC), with some modifications, is also ...

A Stochastic Control Approach to Public Debt Management [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We discuss a class of debt management problems in a stochastic environment model. We propose a model for the debt-to-GDP (Gross Domestic Product) ratio where the government interventions via fiscal policies affect the public debt and the GDP growth rate at the same time. We allow for stochastic interest rate and possible correlation with the GDP growth

Monetary–fiscal policy interactions and fiscal stimulus [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Economic Review, 2009
Increases in government spending trigger substitution effects — both inter- and intra-temporal — and a wealth effect. The ultimate impacts on the economy hinge on current and expected monetary and fiscal policy behavior. Studies that impose active monetary policy and passive fiscal policy typically find that government consumption crowds out private ...

Butterfly‐Inspired Hierarchical Hybrid Composites for Lightweight Structural Thermal Management Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Emulating nature's unparalleled engineering, this work introduces butterfly‐inspired hybrid composites for high‐performance transportation and defense sectors. Leveraging biomimicry, these lightweight composites feature butterfly leg‐inspired hierarchical fibrous assemblies and butterfly wing‐inspired sandwich‐structured architecture, to achieve ...

Ramsey Optimal Policy versus Multiple Equilibria with Fiscal and Monetary Interactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We consider a frictionless constant endowment economy based on Leeper (1991). In this economy, it is shown that, under an ad-hoc monetary rule and an ad-hoc fiscal rule, there are two equilibria. One has active monetary policy and passive fiscal policy, while the other has passive monetary policy and active fiscal policy.

Fiscal policy and inequality in a model with endogenous positional concerns [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We investigate the dynamics of wealth inequality in an economy where households have positional preferences, with the strength of the positional concern determined endogenously by inequality of wealth distribution in the society. We demonstrate that in the long run such an economy converges to a unique egalitarian steady-state equilibrium, with all ...

Integration of Perovskite/Low‐Dimensional Material Heterostructures for Optoelectronics and Artificial Visual Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heterojunctions combining halide perovskites with low‐dimensional materials enhance optoelectronic devices by enabling precise charge control and improving efficiency, stability, and speed. These synergies advance flexible electronics, wearable sensors, and neuromorphic computing, mimicking biological vision for real‐time image analysis and intelligent
