Comparisons of day-time and night-time hydroacoustic surveys in temperate lakes

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources, 2020
In recent years, due to an increased need for non-intrusive sampling techniques, hydroacoustics has attracted attention in fishery science and management.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

A modelling approach to evaluate the impact of fish spatial behavioural types on fisheries stock assessment

open access: yesICES Journal of Marine Science, 2018
&NA; Spatial behavioural types (SBTs) arise from between‐individual differences in behavioural traits that foster spatial behavioural patterns that are consistent over time and ecological contexts.

Fish stock falls unreported [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2008
SummaryA new study finds that catches of tropical and reef fish are going unrecorded, threatening efforts to maintain stocks. Nigel Williams reports.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE ECOSYSTEM OF THE OKHOTSK SEA IN 2008–2018?

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2019
Critical analysis is done of the main conclusions in the article published by Yury Zuenko and co-authors in this issue of «Izvestia TINRO» journal about changes in the Okhotsk Sea biota in 2008–2018.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Current state for stocks and fishery of saffron cod Eleginus gracilis (Tilesius, 1810) in the western Bering Sea

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО
State of stocks and fishery and some general features of biology are considered for saffron cod in the Bering Sea on results of bottom trawl surveys and commercial fishery statistics in 2000–2023. In 2023, the stock in the southwestern part of the sea is

Large inter-stock differences in catch size-at-age of mature Atlantic salmon observed by using genetic individual origin assignment from catch data.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Genetic individual assignment of river stock of origin of mixed stock catch fish offers a tool to analyze size differences among river stocks. Data on the genetically identified river stock of origin of individual fish from commercial mixed stock catches

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Lessons learned from practical approaches to reconcile mismatches between biological population structure and stock units of marine fish

open access: yes, 2017
Recent advances in the application of stock identification methods have revealed inconsistencies between the spatial structure of biological populations and the definition of stock units used in assessment and management.
