Floral resource availability and surrounding land cover influence bumble bee community composition in an agricultural landscape

Insect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Multispecies occupancy models indicated that the occurrence of bumble bees was associated with local floral resources as well as the landscape surrounding a site within 1.6 km. Estimated species richness was greater at sites with more forest cover and lower at sites with more corn and soybean agriculture in the surrounding landscape.

The Phase Structure of Binary Statistical Manifolds: Two Intrinsic Thresholds of the Fisher–Rao Metric

The one-parameter family of Bernoulli distributions carries a unique Riemannian metric invariant under sufficient statistics (Čencov, 1982). We derive two intrinsic thresholds from this metric with zero free parameters. The cost transition at |Sc| = 0.43513…, determined by cos θ = 2θ, marks where marginal geodesic cost exceeds unity.
