Status of the spawning biomass of the Pacific sardine, 1975-1976 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
In order to initiate a fishery for the Pacific sardine, Sardinops sajax caeruleus, it is required that the spawning biomass be determined to have reached a minimum of 20,000 short tons.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

A study of mercury concentration in organs of Zander fish (Sander lucioperca) in the Caspian Sea

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2008
We studied mercury bioaccumulation in liver, gill, skin and muscle of Zander fish and its relationships with weight, age and sex factors and compared the results with world standard levels.

ESSAI D’EVALUATION DU STOCK DE GÉNITEURS D’ALOSE ALOSA ALOSA DU BASSIN VERSANT GIRONDE-GARONNE-DORDOGNE SUR LA PERIODE 1987-2001 ET COMPARAISON DE DIFFERENTS INDICATEURS D’ABONDANCE

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 2004

Biology and fishery of pond smelt Hypomesus olidus in the Amur River basin

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2020
In the Amur River, there are two ecological forms of pond smelt Hypomesus olidus: anadromous and freshwater. Generalized information about biology and fishery of the anadromous form of pond smelt is presented.

Status of the spawning biomass of the Pacific sardine, 1980-81 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
State law requires that the population of Pacific sardines, Sardinops sagax caeruleus, must reach a minimum spawning biomass of 20,000 short tons before initiation of a fishery.

Biophysical analysis of angiotensin II and amyloid‐β cross‐interaction in aggregation and membrane disruption

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Angiotensin II (AngII), a neuropeptide, interacts with amyloid‐β (Aβ), a key player in Alzheimer's disease. This study reveals that AngII reduces Aβ aggregation and membrane disruption in vitro. Biophysical assays and molecular modeling suggest AngII binds disordered Aβ forms, potentially modulating early amyloidogenic events and contributing to ...

Temporal and spatial patterns on serra, Scomberomorus brasiliensis (Teleostei, Scombridae), catches from the fisheries on the Maranhão coast, Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2001
The displacement pattern of the serra, Scomberomorus brasiliensis, in North-eastern Brazil was analyzed from landing data recorded from the fleet fishing serra.
