This essay looks at how the practices of Soviet fisheries science, focusing on the Caspian Sea region, changed in the late 1920s and 1930s. What was new in the 1930s was not so much increased emphasis on industrialized fisheries or the need for practical science, which had always been present in fisheries science.

Predictability and empirical dynamics of fisheries time series in the North Pacific
Previous studies have documented a strong relationship between marine ecosystems and large-scale modes of sea surface height (SSH) and sea surface temperature (SST) variability in the North Pacific such as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation and the North ...

Towards an integrated forecasting system for pelagic fisheries [PDF]
Abstract. First results of a coupled modeling and forecasting system for the pelagic fisheries are being presented. The system consists currently of three mathematically fundamentally different model subsystems: POLCOMS-ERSEM providing the physical-biogeochemical environment implemented in the domain of the North-West European shelf and the SPAM model ...

On steadyness of stereotypes in conceptions on marine ecology of pacific salmons (Oncorhynchus spp.)
Some conceptions on marine ecology of pacific salmons (Oncorhynchus spp.), established in the second half of the last century, are discussed from critical position, as overemphasizing of the sea surface temperature influence on distribution of salmons ...

GREY FORECASTING MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR FORECAST OF CAPTURED FISHERIES PRODUCTION
The increasing need for fish causes problems related to production in the fisheries sector. In fisheries production all information related to (fishing ground) is well known, but on the other hand it is not easy to predict the amount of production due to unclear information. This is also related to the number of ships that make trips, the length (time)
