Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Practical suggestions for the commercialisation of fishery production in Ondo State [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The paper examines the fisheries resources and activities in Ondo State, Nigeria. As a result of the geographical advantage via location along the Atlantic coast the potentials and constraints of coastal artisanal fisheries in Ondo State are assessed ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Application of Métier-Based Approaches for Spatial Planning and Management: A Case Study on a Mixed Trawl Fishery in Taiwan

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Mixed fisheries refer to fishing activities that catch more than one species simultaneously, and a species may be fished using different gear. A trawl fishery shares these features to exploit multiple species simultaneously, with diverse fishing gear and

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Identification of the regulatory roles of water qualities on the spatio-temporal dynamics of microbiota communities in the water and fish guts in the Heilongjiang River

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The Heilongjiang River is one of the largest rivers in the cool temperate zone and has an abundant fish source. To date, the microbiota community in water samples and fish guts from the Heilongjiang River is still unclear.

Determination of LC50 of Copper Sulfate and Lead(II) Nitrate and Behavioral Responses of Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2012
In the present study, grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) were exposed to copper and lead for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. Experimental fishes which measured an average length of 8.2 ± 0.44 cm and weighed 4.3 ± 0.5 g.

Habitat suitability evaluation of Harpadon nehereus in nearshore of Zhejiang province, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
Coastal waters provide an important spawning and nursery ground for offshore marine organisms. To understand the suitable habitat and distribution of Harpadon nehereus, a key nearshore species, this study assessed the survey data of fishery resources and
