Fission track dating of obsidians
Nuclear Tracks, 1981Abstract Fission-track dating is applied to 16 obsidian artifacts from an archaeological excavation at Cayonu Tepesi in southeastern Anatolia. Since obsidian samples are rich in bubbles and inclusions, only the six most compact samples were found to be usable for fission-track measurements.

Fission-Track Dating and Geologic Annealing of Fission Tracks
1979Fission-track dating is one of the newest methods that geologists have to help them determine the ages of minerals and natural glasses. Fission tracks are stable over different temperature intervals in different minerals and glasses, and by dating several different minerals present in a rock it is possible to obtain a better understanding of its thermal

Fission track tectonics: The tectonic interpretation of fission track apatite ages
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1972Abstract Absolute uplift rates, regional uplift patterns, and time limits for uplift and fault movements can be studied with fission tracks in apatite. This is demonstrated for about 50 apatites from the Swiss and Italian Alps. Due to the relatively low thermal stability of tracks in apatite, the fission track ages of apatites from this area define ...

Fission Track Annealing and Fission Track Age-Temperature Relationship in Sphene
Nuclear Technology, 1981Annealing characteristics of spontaneous (fossil) and induced (recent) fission tracks in sphene were measured in a temperature range of 873 to 768 K.

FISSION TRACK TEMPERATURE AGE THEORY
Nuclear Tracks, 1981ABSTRACT As a consequence of thermal fading of fission tracks in minerals the fission track dating method can be used to obtain a temperature (cooling) age, if it is possible to determine the temperature associated with a measured fission track age.

Fission track closure temperatures
International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part D. Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1986Abstract A numerical method is described for the calculation of fission track closure temperatures, which is based on the empirical equations of Bertagnolli et al . (1983). Unlike the method of Haack (1977), the increase in activation energy during annealing is taken into account.
