A double ionization chamber for fission fragment detection

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, 1984
Abstract In the present paper some problems associated with studies of the spontaneous fission of transfermium elements are considered, and advantages of ionization chambers over other detectors for fission fragment detection are discussed.

Fast timing from a fission ionization chamber

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1972
Abstract The timing resolution of a 252 Cf-loaded fission ionization chamber connected to a new current preamplifier has been tested by looking at coincident fission fragment pulses and pulses from fission γ-rays which are detected in a plastic scintillator. A time resolution of 1 nsec fwhm could be achieved.

The effect of fragment anisotropy on fission-chamber efficiency

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1974
Abstract A method is given for calculating the inefficiency of a fission chamber because of the loss of fragments in the foil. The method includes the effects of the anisotropy in the fragment angular distribution because of both angular and linear momentum given to the nucleus by the incident neutron.
