Light‐Responsive Enzyme‐Loaded Nanoparticles for Tunable Adhesion and Mechanical Wound Contraction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a photoactivatable enzyme‐loaded mesoporous nanoparticle system (MPDA_PaTy) that enables light‐triggered tunable tissue adhesion and facilitates mechanical wound contraction. Controlled enzymatic crosslinking at tissue or hydrogel interfaces allows on‐demand adhesion.

Retention of a Flowable Composite Resin in Comparison to a Conventional Resin-Based Sealant: One-year Follow-up

open access: yesFrontiers in Dentistry, 2010
Objective: Long-term retention of pit and fissure sealants is crucial for their success. This clinical study evaluated the retention rate of a flowable composite resin (Filtek Supreme XT Flowable Restorative) compared to a conventional resin-based ...

Bond strength of a pit-and-fissure sealant associated to etch-and-rinse and self-etching adhesive systems to saliva-contaminated enamel: individual vs. simultaneous light curing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This study evaluated in vitro the shear bond strength (SBS) of a resin-based pit-and-fissure sealant [Fluroshield (F), Dentsply/Caulk] associated with either an etch-and-rinse [Adper Single Bond 2 (SB), 3M/ESPE] or a self-etching adhesive system ...

Peptide Sequencing With Single Acid Resolution Using a Sub‐Nanometer Diameter Pore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To sequence a single molecule of Aβ1−42–sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the aggregate is forced through a sub‐nanopore 0.4 nm in diameter spanning a 4.0 nm thick membrane. The figure is a visual molecular dynamics (VMD) snapshot depicting the translocation of Aβ1−42–SDS through the pore; only the peptide, the SDS, the Na+ (yellow/green) and Cl− (cyan ...

Microleakage, adaptation ability and clinical efficacy of two fluoride releasing fissure sealants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background/Aim. Retention of fissure sealants and good adaptation to enamel are essential for their success. Fluoride releasing resin-based materials are widely accepted for pit and fissure sealing, but newly designed glass ionomers can serve as a ...

Multi‐Faceted Binder Enhancement via Slurry‐Applicable Thiol‐Ene Click Chemistry for Low‐Pressure‐Operable All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cross‐linked binders with enhanced resiliencies under low operating pressures are designed via in situ thiol‐ene click reactions within slurries. Cross‐linking improves the Young's moduli and elasticities of the styrene‐butadiene rubber binders, effectively mitigating interparticle delamination within the composite cathodes induced by volumetric ...

Retention of pit and fissure sealant versus flowable composite: An in vivo one-year comparative evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, 2019
Introduction: Pits and fissures are extremely vulnerable to the development of caries. Resin-based materials for sealing pits and fissures (pit and fissure sealants and flowable composites) are helpful in caries control by physical barrier formation ...

A Termite‐Inspired Alternative to Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A termite‐inspired composite of clay, cellulose, and lignin forms a dense fibrous network with concrete‐like strength (32 MPa) and superior elasticity, processed at ambient temperature. Abstract Clay combined with organic materials is used by termites as a strong and durable construction material for their mounds with minimal environmental impact. Here,
