Bioinspired Adaptive Leg‐Claw Enables Robust Perching and Grasping for UAVs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by owl limb morphology and bat roosting behavior, this study presents a bioinspired adaptive leg‐claw mechanism that enables UAVs to perform robust and versatile perching and grasping. The design integrates a four‐link tibial structure, tension‐driven deformable feet, and active control, enabling stable perching on various branches and ...

A Genomic Catalog of Migratory Microbiomes from Wild Birds across China's Habitats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Migratory birds play an important role in the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR); however, gaps in surveillance data from vital regions along migratory flyways across China limit the detection of emergent threats. Here, we assembled 340 metagenomes from 52 bird species covering 11 provincial administrative districts in China, presenting ...

In Situ Electrochemical Activation of Pseudo‐Layered NbS3 via Interlayer Expansion and Dual Redox for High Mg‐Ion Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A quasi‐1D pseudo‐layered NbS3 cathode for magnesium‐ion batteries can be created through electrochemically induced interlayer expansion. The widened ion‐transport channels enable fast magnesium ion diffusion and unlock coupled cationic‐anionic redox chemistry.

Upgrading fit-for-purpose land administration systems: challenges and opportunities in Bosaso, Somalia

open access: yesSurvey Review
Fit-for-purpose land administration (FFPLA) approaches offer a solution to the lack of land governance strategies in the Global South, emphasizing flexibility, inclusivity, and scalability. However, FFPLA projects primarily focus on establishing land administration systems, with less attention given to ensuring their sustainability, ongoing maintenance

Role of Epoxide Functionalization of Amines for Development of Direct Air Capture Sorbents with High Cyclic Working Capacity at Low Desorption Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Appropriate butylene oxide (BO) functionalization of amines (polyethyleneimine (PEI1200 and PEI300) and tris(2‐aminoethyl)amine (TREN)) enables excellent cyclic working capacities (WCcyclic) at low desorption temperatures (40−70°C). Notably, 0.30BO‐PEI300‐SY and 0.54BO‐TREN‐SY show the highest WCcyclic at 45 and 40°C, respectively.

The Permit Power Revisited: The Theory and Practice of Regulatory Permits in the Administrative State [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Two decades ago, Professor Richard Epstein fired a shot at the administrative state that has gone largely unanswered in legal scholarship. His target was the permit power, under which legislatures prohibit a specified activity by statute and delegate ...
