Educational tools for fit-for-purpose land administration: experiences and lessons from Mozambique

open access: yesGIM International, 2016
In most countries, realising the continuum of land rights ideology and the fit-for-purpose land administration approach will require a suite of policy, legal, institutional and technical interventions. Another key component is capacity development; scaled implementation requires individuals, organisations and society as a whole to understand, support ...

Development of Fit-For-Purpose Land Administration Country Strategy: Experience from Nepal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
SUMMARYExisting Nepalese Land Administration System (LAS) only deals with the formal or statutory land tenure system. Out of total arable land, approximately 75% is formally registered in the national cadaster. Remaining 25% with estimated 10 million physical parcels, mostly owned by socially and economically deprived (SED) classes are outside the ...

Discovery and Engineering of a Rat Endogenous Retrovirus Reverse Transcriptase for Efficient Prime Editing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We screened 558 reverse transcriptases and engineered an optimized rat endogenous retrovirus‐derived variant, enRERV‐RT, via structure‐guided engineering and deep mutational scanning. This enhanced prime editor, based on the engineered RT, outperforms conventional M‐MLV‐RT systems across plant and animal cells, particularly at hard‐to‐edit loci ...

Guiding Principles for Building Fit-For-Purpose Land Administration Systems in Developing Countries:Capacity Development, Change Management and Project Delivery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Most developing countries are struggling to find remedies for their many land problems that are often causing land conflicts, reducing economic development and preventing countries reaching their true potential. Existing investments in land administration have been built on legacy approaches and have not delivered the required pervasive changes and ...

Epidermal METTL1‐Mediated m7G Modification Drives Psoriatic Inflammation by Stabilizing Bdkrb1 and Orchestrating Neutrophil Recruitment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils an unrecognized pro‐inflammatory epitranscriptomic checkpoint in psoriasis. By installing m7G modifications on the 5′ UTR of Bdkrb1 mRNA, METTL1 enhances receptor stability to orchestrate keratinocyte‐driven neutrophil recruitment via p38 MAPK signaling.

Tumor‐Specific Delivery of CD28 siRNA via Lyso‐PC C‐16 Modified Lipid Nanoparticles Overcomes Anti‐PD‐1 Resistance by Remodeling Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops 16:0 LPC‐modified lipid nanoparticles (LPC‐LNPs) with cancer cell specificity by exploiting altered tumor lipid metabolism. LPC‐LNPs encapsulating Cd28 small interfering RNA (LPC‐LNP‐Cd28) knock down cancer cell CD28 without affecting T cells, inflame the tumor microenvironment, and overcome anti‐PD‐1 resistance.

Building Fit-For-Purpose Land Administration Systems:Providing Secure Tenure for All

open access: yes, 2016
New solutions in land administration are required that can deliver security of tenure for all, are affordable and can be quickly developed and incrementally improved over time. The Fit-For-Purpose (FFP) approach to land administration has emerged to meet these simple, but challenging requirements. This paper discusses the building of the FFP approach at

Junction Physics and Architectural Paradigms in Optoelectronic Semiconductor Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic fibers are emerging as a key platform for distributed sensing, energy harvesting, and optical communication in deformable systems. Their performance is fundamentally governed by junction formation under confined, dynamic processing conditions.

Tandem Duplication‐Driven Neofunctionalization of UDP‐Glycosyltransferases Shapes the Diversification of Triterpenoid Saponins in the Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

Synergistic Effect of Gradient Conductivity and Gradient Microstructures Enabled Ultrasensitive and Ultrabroad Linear Flexible Tactile Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A design of double gradient effect is proposed to resolve the contradictory optimization on sensitivity and linearity of piezoresistive tactile sensors. The ultrawide linearity is realized by the sequential trigger of pressure‐induced gradient conductivity‐enabled linear current owing to the gradient microstructures.
