Noncommutative Fitting invariants and improved annihilation results
To each finitely presented module M over a commutative ring R one can associate an R-ideal Fit_R(M) which is called the (zeroth) Fitting ideal of M over R and which is always contained in the R-annihilator of M.

Unified Probabilistic Deep Continual Learning through Generative Replay and Open Set Recognition
We introduce a probabilistic approach to unify open set recognition with the prevention of catastrophic forgetting in deep continual learning, based on variational Bayesian inference.

A subgroup V of G is called an j in jector of G if Vc~ N is F-maximal in N (that is, Vn N is a maximal ~-subgroup of N) for each subnormal subgroup N of G. It is known that the ~-injectors of a group G form a conjugacy class of subgroups 1,2]. If ~-injectors are always normal then ~ is called a normal Fitting class.

ABSTRACT Background An international Delphi panel of experts developed consensus statements to delineate the circumstances where the risks of dexamethasone as an antiemetic do and do not outweigh its benefits. Procedure Experts in supportive care of pediatric patients were invited to participate.

Detecting layer height of smoke aerosols over vegetated land and water surfaces via oxygen absorption bands: hourly results from EPIC/DSCOVR in deep space [PDF]
We present an algorithm for retrieving aerosol layer height (ALH) and aerosol optical depth (AOD) for smoke over vegetated land and water surfaces from measurements of the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) onboard the Deep Space Climate ...

We present a new class of methods for high-dimensional nonparametric regression and classification called sparse additive models (SpAM). Our methods combine ideas from sparse linear modeling and additive nonparametric regression.

Locally defined Fitting classes [PDF]
Fitting classes of finite solvable groups were first considered by Fischer, who with Gäschutz and Hartley (1967) showed in that in each finite solvable group there is a unique conjugacy class of “-injectors”, for a Fitting class. In general the behaviour of Fitting classes and injectors seems somewhat mysterious and hard to determine.

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Generalized Johnson Distributions and Risk Functionals
In this paper, we study the generalized Johnson distributions’ class and its applications in finance and risk theory. The recent literature on Johnson distributions displays a better gooodness of fitting for data coming from financial markets, such as ...

Successive Concave Sparsity Approximation for Compressed Sensing
In this paper, based on a successively accuracy-increasing approximation of the $\ell_0$ norm, we propose a new algorithm for recovery of sparse vectors from underdetermined measurements.
