Is Fitts’ Law Continuous in Discrete Aiming?
The lawful continuous linear relation between movement time and task difficulty (i.e., index of difficulty; ID) in a goal-directed rapid aiming task (Fitts' law) has been recently challenged in reciprocal performance. Specifically, a discontinuity was observed at critical ID and was attributed to a transition between two distinct dynamic regimes that ...

Head movement assessment of cerebral palsy users with severe motor disorders when they control a computer thought eye movements [PDF]
[Abstract] Eye tracking is currently a promising technology to access computers for people who suffer severe motor disorders, like cerebral palsy. However, there is a lack of usability assessment procedures and concrete value to describe the user’s motor

Fitts’ Law in Tongue Movements of Repetitive Speech [PDF]
AbstractFitts’ law, perhaps the most celebrated law of human motor control, expresses a relation between the kinematic property of speed and the non-kinematic, task-specific property of accuracy. We aimed to assess whether speech movements obey this law using a metronome-driven speech elicitation paradigm with a systematic speech rate control ...

An alternative to Fitts’ law [PDF]
A new power law of movement time for motor control tasks is proposed as an alternative to the classical Fitts’ law. A reanalysis of Fitts’ original data indicates that this power law may provide superior fits to those of Fitts’ law, which may be interpreted as a special case of the power law.

One Fitts’ Law, Two Metrics [PDF]
Movement time in Fitts’ law is usually considered through the ambiguous notion of the average of minimum movement times. In this paper, we argue that using two distinct metrics, one relating to minimum time and the other relating to average time can be advantageous. Both metrics have a lot of support from theoretical and empirical perspectives. We also
