Ruled Surface Machining on Five-Axis CNC Machine Tools
Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2000Abstract To achieve high precision and high productivity in machining sculptured surfaces, a new architecture for a five-axis CNC interpolator for machining ruled surfaces was developed and demonstrated on a milling machine. The objective of the five-axis interpolator is to continuously maintain the milling cutter axis in parallel with the straight ...

Five-axis CNC machine tool contour error control method
Proceedings of the 2019 International Conference on Robotics, Intelligent Control and Artificial Intelligence, 2019In the five-axis CNC machining, various errors caused by factors such as geometrical accuracy and dynamic characteristics of the machine tool will eventually appear as the contour error of the part. Therefore, controlling and compensating for contour errors is of great significance.

Total ballbar dynamic tests for five-axis CNC machine tools
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2009The linear and rotary axes of a five-axis machine tool are driven simultaneously to generate a specified tool position and orientation in workpiece coordinates. It is crucial that these servo-controlled axes are of balanced dynamics to achieve high tracking accuracy.

A Conical Tool Posture Control Algorithm for Five-Axis CNC Machining
2012 Second International Conference on Intelligent System Design and Engineering Application, 2012Conical surfaces are commonly used in the industrial product design. In order to improve the machining accuracy of such parts, a conical tool posture control algorithm is proposed, which abandon disadvantages of traditional linear interpolation algorithm.

Feed optimization for five-axis CNC machine tools with drive constraints
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2008Abstract Real time control of five-axis machine tools requires smooth generation of feed, acceleration and jerk in CNC systems without violating the physical limits of the drives. This paper presents a feed scheduling algorithm for CNC systems to minimize the machining time for five-axis contour machining of sculptured surfaces.

Pre-compensation of contour errors in five-axis CNC machine tools
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2013Abstract This paper presents an analytical prediction and compensation of contouring errors in five-axis machining of splined tool paths. The position commands are first fitted to piecewise quintic splines while respecting velocity, acceleration and jerk continuity at the spline joints.

Five-axis tool path generation in CNC machining of -spline surfaces
Computer-Aided Design, 2014Abstract Because of its flexible topology and robust data structure, the T -spline surface has become the trend of free-form surfaces representation in the realm of CAD design, animation and CAE. Yet its application in manufacturing has not been fully explored.
