Five-axis contour error control considering milling force effects for CNC machine tools

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2018
In order to improve the quality of five-axis machining, the effects of milling force in feed drives have to be considered comprehensively so as to obtain better dynamic performance. In this paper, a model of five-axis machine tool feed system is established to analyze the influence of milling force on the feed drive dynamic performance.

An interpolation method based on tool orientation fitting in five-axis CNC machining

2016 IEEE 14th International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN), 2016
The currently existing five-axis CNC machining systems tend to employ linear interpolation algorithm in machining, which will result in nonlinear errors and abrupt tool orientation changes due to ignoring tool orientation interpolation. To overcome those disadvantages, a tool path interpolation method that takes tool orientation interpolation into ...

A novel kinematic model for five-axis machine tools and its CNC applications

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2012
In conventional five-axis CNC machining, the machine structure is treated as a single kinematic chain just like a robotic manipulator while the cutter is treated as an end effector. In this paper, besides the machine kinematic chain, a cutter kinematic chain is introduced, and the two subkinematic chains are combined to form one machine–cutter ...

A Tool Path Control Algorithm Based on Tool Orientation Vector Interpolation in Five-Axis CNC Machining

2016 Sixth International Conference on Instrumentation & Measurement, Computer, Communication and Control (IMCCC), 2016
Linear interpolation algorithm is employed in five-axis CNC machining systems to realize tool path control in machining, ignoring the problem of interpolation of tool orientation vectors. Several problems, such as large data size, velocity discontinuity, and nonlinear error will therefore be brought out.
