Cutter Radius Compensation for Five- Axis Peripheral Milling in CNC System

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
This paper presents a 3D tool radius compensation for five- axis peripheral milling in CNC systems. Using a generalized kinematics model of five- axis machines and uniform algorithm, it is possible to calculate the complete analytical equations for the tool orientation relative to part.

A Five-Axis Robotic Laser And Vision Integrated "On-Line" Welding System

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
A five axis robotic laser welding system has been designed and built for an "on-line" automotive joining application. A high power CO2 laser beam is manipulated through the use of a robotic beam delivery system and is focused onto the work piece. An optical probe communicates the coordinates or geometry of the parts to the clamping and welding robots ...

Modeling and calibration of a structured-light-sensor-based five-axis scanning system

Measurement, 2004
Abstract With the development of industry structured-light sensors have been widely applied in reverse engineering and quality control. Due to the incapability of changing their orientations continuously in response to the surface fluctuation of a part to be measured, they have met some challenges on measuring complex structured parts.

Development of a Web-Based Virtual Five-Axis Milling Toolpath Simulation System

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Virtual machine tool has been used in the toolpath simulation of a real machine tool with very promising achievement in teaching assistance. However, a five-axis milling machine is generally very expensive in comparison with traditional three-axis milling machine in its configuration.

Five-Axis NC Cutting System of Propeller Type Water Turbine Runner

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1981
Abstract We, TOSHIBA, have introduced large-sized 5-axis NC milling machine and 5-axis NC machining centre, and are mainly machining water turbine runners. For example, propeller type water turbine runner has sculptured surface and functional surface, and it is difficult to cut all of it's surfaces especially their joint portion.

An Algorithm for Space Tool Compensation Used in Five-Axis Numerical Control System

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
This paper presents a new space cutter compensation algorithm used in five-axis CNC machines. Five-axis CNC machines are composed of three linear axes and two rotational axes, owing to its unique structure and function, especially it is adapted to free surface machining, and is used in mold, aviation and ship manufacture widely.
