Bio‐Derived Polyelectrolyte Additive–Induced Interfacial Ion‐Diffusion Barriers for Nonvolatile Organic Artificial Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sodium alginate regulates interfacial ion transport and retention in electrolyte‐gated synaptic transistors. The carboxylate‐rich polymeric network forms a dynamic interfacial ion‐diffusion barrier that facilitates ion injection during programming while suppressing ion back‐diffusion, thereby stabilizing the electrochemically doped channel state.

Conformational Switching of Proteins on Material Surfaces Enabled by Peptide‐Oriented Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Responsive biointerfaces could be achieved using conformationally responsive proteins; however, their interconversion can be lost upon surface adsorption. Herein, we demonstrate that the incorporation a Au binding peptide into calmodulin allows for binding control on Au wherein the protein retains conformational switching. This capability was confirmed

Sulfur‐Free Ultrahigh‐Refractive‐Index Polymers Enabled by Densely Packed Oxygen‐Bridged Dibenzofuran‐Cardo Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of sulfur‐free, oxygen‐bridged dibenzofuran‐based polymers is developed for ultrahigh‐refractive‐index applications. The rigid π‐extended architecture and enhanced molecular polarizability enable exceptional optical performance, combining refractive indices up to 1.848 with high Abbe numbers and full visible transparency. This work offers a

An Edible Chitosan‐Based Acoustic Sensor for Sound‐Responsive Actuation in Edible Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an edible acoustic sensor for robotic food and edible robotics. Built from a chitosan piezoelectric film between gold electrodes, the sensor enables acoustic communication through ON/OFF keying. Integrated into an edible robot with pneumatically actuated arms and neck, it responds to high‐frequency tones.

Roll‐to‐Roll Processable EC/TC Hybrid Smart Windows Driven by a Bidirectional Dual‐Chromic Polymer Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable EC/TC hybrid smart window using a DCPE that enables tunable solar modulation (ΔTsol:15–43%), fast electrochromic switching (<90 s), and strong thermal blocking (10–14°C reduction). HPMC improves thermal stability, while an optimized ISL enhances EC performance.

Disorder‐Broadened Topological Hall Phase and Anomalous Hall Scaling in FeGe

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By systematically introducing defects into FeGe via ion‐beam modification, we demonstrate that disorder broadens the temperature regime over which the topological Hall effect ‐ a signature of skyrmions or other chiral textures — appears, while also increasing its magnitude.

Populist parties and foreign policy: The case of Italy’s Five Star Movement

open access: yesBritish Journal of Politics and International Relations, 2020
The role of political parties in foreign policy is gaining increasing attention. Nonetheless, despite an extraordinary interest in ‘populism’, the foreign policy of populist parties has rarely been investigated. This article provides an innovative theoretical framework, applying it on a rare example of a ‘pure’ populist party: Italy’s Five Star ...

The Five Star Movement

open access: yes, 2022
The Five Star Movement (FSM) was born in 2009 after a wave of protests (so called “V days”) against the political establishment initiated by a famous Italian comedian, Beppe Grillo. Because of its hybrid nature, with one foot in the party system and the other one in the social movement arena, the FSM has been considered a “movement party,” displaying ...

Populism and Euroscepticism in the Italian Five Star Movement

International Spectator, 2015
The Italian Five Star Movement (FSM) is one of the most interesting political phenomena in contemporary Europe. On one hand, this populist anti-establishment party has expressed a critical, albeit ambiguous, position on the European Union and the euro.
