Backhaul-Aware User Association in FiWi Enhanced LTE-A Heterogeneous Networks [PDF]
In this paper, we shed some light on the latency and reliability issues of mobile backhaul networks, which have been largely ignored in the past, and examine their impact on LTE-A heterogeneous networks (HetNets). Specifically, we propose a backhaul-aware user association algorithm for fiber-wireless (FiWi) enhanced LTE-A HetNets.

Long-Term Changes in Survival of Eurasian Lynx in Three Reintroduced Populations in Switzerland. [PDF]
In this study, we analyzed the long‐term development of survival rates for different sexes and age classes in three reintroduced Swiss lynx populations. A novel modeling approach allowed us to combine picture data, telemetry data, and dead recoveries over a monitoring period of 25 years (1997–2022).

18S rRNA Metagenomic Analysis of Nodular Gill Disease in Swiss Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). [PDF]
ABSTRACT Nodular gill disease (NGD) is a serious proliferative gill condition that affects farmed salmonids, particularly in Europe. While the cause of NGD remains unknown (and maybe multifactorial), various amoebae are often isolated from the gills of affected fish and can in some cases be seen associated with lesions by histopathology.

A survey on edge and fog nodes' placement methods, techniques, parameters, and constraints
Within Edge and Fog computing, edge and fog nodes must be optimally located at the network edge to minimise network's overall latency. This survey addresses all aspects of these nodes' placement problem. Literature on edge and fog nodes' placement are collected, filtered out and studied.

Amoeba species colonizing the gills of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in Swiss aquaculture
Abstract Nodular gill disease (NGD) is an infectious condition characterized by proliferative gill lesions leading to respiratory problems, oxygen deficiency and mortality in fish. Globally, NGD primarily impacts freshwater salmonids in intensive aquaculture systems.

Implementation of a Full Optically-Powered 5G NR Fiber-Wireless System
We report the implementation of a full optically-powered 5G new radio (5G NR) fiber-wireless (FiWi) system based on power-over-fiber (PoF) and radio-over-fiber (RoF) technologies.

Our study explored, whether reintroduced Eurasian lynx to the north‐western Swiss Alps, over generations have learned to adjust to the Alpine environment. Compared to the early period of recolonization, lynx nowadays selected for higher elevations and avoided open habitats less.

Abstract Volatile compositions of asteroids provide information on the Solar System history and the origins of Earth's volatiles. Visible to near‐infrared observations at wavelengths of <2.5 µm have suggested a genetic link between outer main belt asteroids located at 2.5–4 au and carbonaceous chondrite meteorites (CCs) that show isotopic similarities ...

The quality of service (QoS) in 5G/6G communication enormously depends upon the mobility and agility of the network architecture. An increase in the possible uses of 5G vehicular network simultaneously expands the scope of the network’s quality of service (QoS).

Harris Hawk Optimization: A Survey onVariants and Applications
In this review, we intend to present a complete literature survey on the conception and variants of the recent successful optimization algorithm, Harris Hawk optimizer (HHO), along with an updated set of applications in well‐established works. For this purpose, we first present an overview of HHO, including its logic of equations and mathematical model.
