Heat transfer in fixed-bed reactors
The Chemical Engineering Journal, 1973Abstract For optimum design of fixed-bed reactors the temperature must be predictable at every point. The effects of temperature distribution upon reactor perfo In the design of non-adiabatic reactors, it is particularly important to use accurate values of the wall heat transfer coefficient and the effective th Available correlations for the key ...

Dynamic Behaviour of Fixed Bed Catalytic Reactors
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1989Abstract Characterizing dynamic behaviour depends on identifying all the significant factors which must be included in models which are used to describe the system. As operation at higher performance is demanded the level of approximation assumes greater importance.

Fixed-Bed Reactors with Regenerative Cooling
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Fundamentals, 1971A regeneratively cooled fixed-bed reactor system was studied theoretically. It consists of two sections which alternate roles as reactor and heat regenerator by periodic flow reversals. Calculations were performed for a single exothermic reaction using a forward cell model.

Adiabatic operation of chromatographic fixed-bed reactors
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2011Abstract Adiabatic operation of single column chromatographic reactors was investigated experimentally and using numerical simulations. Esterification of acetic acid with alcohols to produce methyl acetate and ethyl acetate was carried out under isothermal and adiabatic conditions.

Mathematical models of fixed bed reactors
Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1970AbstractThis paper discusses in a semi‐qualitative way mathematical models for fixed bed chemical reactors in which a single chemical reaction takes place. Various models are discussed with some mention of the difficulties of computation, stability, and the anatomy and pathology of systems in which chemical reaction is coupled with heat and mass ...

Catalyst particle modelling in fixed-bed reactors
Chemical Engineering Science, 1990Abstract The steady operation of a fixed-bed reactor is analyzed with a detailed computational model, which includes heat and mass transport in the catalyst particles and their boundary layers. Intraparticle transport is described by smoothed-field mass and energy balances, multicomponent flux expressions, and local chemical kinetics.

FIXED BED REACTOR DYNAMICS AND CONTROL – A REVIEW
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1986Abstract The industrial diversity of fixed bed reactors offers a challenging and relevant set of control problems. These intricate problems arise due to the rather complex dynamics of fixed bed reactors and to the complexity of actual reactor configurations. Many of these control problems are nonlinear and multi-variable. During the last decade fixed
