Simple groups with strong fixed‐point properties

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society
AbstractWe exhibit finitely generated torsion‐free groups for which any action on any finite‐dimensional CW‐complex with finite Betti numbers has a global fixed point.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Fixed point property for digital spaces

open access: yesThe Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Applications, 2017
Summary: The paper compares the fixed point property (FPP for short) of a compact Euclidean plane with its digital versions associated with Khalimsky and Marcus-Wyse topology. More precisely, by using a Khalimsky and a Marcus-Wyse topological digitization, the paper studies digital versions of the FPP for Euclidean topological spaces.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Nonexpansive retractions and fixed point properties

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2012
Let \(E\) be a Banach space and \(C\) be a bounded closed convex subset of \(E\). \textit{R. E. Bruck} [``A common fixed point theorem for a commuting family of nonexpansive mappings'', Pac. J. Math. 53, 59--71 (1974; Zbl 0312.47045), Lemma 1] showed that the intersection of a descending sequence of nonexpansive retracts of \(C\) is the fixed point set
