Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Fixed-term employees in Australia: incidence and characteristics [PDF]
This paper presents an analysis of fixed-term employment in Australia or 3.3 per cent of employed persons in 2000. It finds that fixed-term employees are largely concentrated in Education (30 per cent of fixed- term employees in August 1998), Health and ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Fixed-time attitude tracking control for spacecraft with input quantization
This paper investigates the fixed-time attitude tracking control problem for rigid spacecraft with input quantization and external disturbances. A novel fixed-time disturbance observer is designed to estimate unknown disturbances. By using adding a power

In this paper, we introduce the notion of generalized coupled fixed points and, as a consequence of Darbo’s fixed point theorem associated to an abstract measure of noncompactness, we present a result about the existence of this class of coupled fixed ...

Ms. D. has received 10 drug-eluting stents, primarily for atypical chest discomfort, with one stenting begetting another. In our system, it's somehow easier to provide 10 state-of-the-art stents than access to a generic pill and social, financial, and psychiatric support.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
