Design of a Fixed-Bed Column with Vegetal Biomass and Its Recycling for Cr (VI) Treatment

open access: yesRecycling, 2022
The aim of this work is to design a fixed-bed column with vegetal biomass of Eichhornia crassipes and the process of recycling it for treatment via the adsorption of water loaded with chromium (VI).

Fixed-Bed Reactors

open access: yes, 2000
Catalytic fixed-bed reactors are the most important type of reactor for the synthesis of largescale basic chemicals and intermediates. In these reactors, the reaction takes place in the form of a heterogeneously catalyzed gas reaction on the surface of catalysts that are arranged as a socalled fixed bed in the reactor.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Combustion and slow pyrolysis of oil palm stones and palm kernel cake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Biomass is an important new energy source because it is indigenous to every part of the world, inexpensive and renewable. Malaysia’s ability to produce and consistently export a large quantity of high quality palm oil has made it one of the major ...

Simulation of Fixed-Bed Adsorption for Biogas Upgrading

open access: yes, 2023
Great efforts have been devoted to developing clean sources of energy that can contribute to keeping global warming below 2ºC in the coming 30 years. Biogas is a renewable source of energy that can be easily produced by the treatment of agricultural, municipal, and industrial wastes.

Influenza Vaccination Responses in Disabled Stroke Patients: A Single‐Center Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to investigate the immunological response to influenza vaccination, the incidence and severity of influenza infection, and the side effects of the vaccination in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods This prospective observational study was conducted between 2023 and 2024 at Ramathibodi Hospital.

A Two‐Stage Questionnaire and Actigraphy Screening for iRBD in a Multicenter Retrospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Isolated rapid‐eye‐movement sleep behavior disorder is a prodromal marker of synucleinopathies. However, most cases remain undiagnosed due to the insufficient predictive value of questionnaires and limited access to confirmatory video‐polysomnography. We assessed a two‐stage screening strategy combining a brief questionnaire on rapid‐

Data‐Driven SuStaIn Model of Disability Progression in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine whether ordinal Subtype and Stage Inference (SuStaIn) applied to routine ALSFRS‐R item scores can identify reproducible disability progression patterns in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and provide clinically meaningful staging.

Formal and Informal Social Care in People With Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases: A Cross‐Sectional Multicenter Survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) are leading causes of physical disability, necessitating support with activities of daily living. This study describes social care received by patients with RMDs in two disparate regions of England: Salford (urban) and Norfolk (rural).

Simulation of Light Propagation in Photochemical Fixed-Bed Reactors Using a BRDF-Based Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Modelling light transport in fixed-bed photochemical reactors can be challenging if the geometry of the packing is the object of investigation. In this manuscript, we present a physically-based model of light transport for the simulation of fixed-bed ...
