Fixed-removable partial denture
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1982Abstract The technique and rationale have been presented for the fixed-removable partial denture. This type of denture has qualities of both the fixed partial denture and the removable partial denture and is indicated where the abutments would support a fixed partial denture but a severe defect is present in the edentulous space.

Longevity of fixed partial dentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1997The anticipated length of service and reasons for replacement of fixed partial dentures (FPDs) are a frequent inquiry by patients. Previous reports have provided limited information on material and techniques used in restoration or standards in evaluations of restorations at delivery. This study determined the reasons for failure and length of service ...

Immediate fixed partial dentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1988This technique offers immediate fixed partial denture replacement of dentition lost in either an anterior or posterior location. It allows modification of the preextraction tooth or the diagnostic wax-up. Because the provisional restoration is made indirectly, the extraction site is not contaminated.

Fixed partial dentures opposing complete dentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989When fixed partial dentures are indicated in an arch opposing a complete denture, it is best to develop the occlusal surfaces of the fixed restorations at the same time that the opposing denture teeth are arranged in wax to permit greater flexibility and reduce the compromise in developing bilateral balanced occlusion.

Removal of partially loosened fixed partial dentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1981The technique described offers maximum safety for the abutment tooth and the probability of salvage of the existing restoration. The options of reusing the restoration or recementing it as a temporary restoration are both attractive.

Nonrigid Connectors for Fixed Partial Dentures [PDF]
Because of physiologic tooth movement, arch position of the abutments, and the retentive capacity of the retainers, a nonrigid connector may be preferred in the fabrication of a five-unit pier-abutment fixed partial denture. In this prosthesis, the movement of the nonrigid connector is enough to prevent the middle abutment from serving as a fulcrum ...

Periodontal preparation for fixed partial dentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1968Abstract Preservation and restoration of the dentition should be based on sound biomechanical principles. To aid the dentist in general practice in formulating a complete and concise treatment plan, the following outline has been proposed: (1) eliminate all irritants; (2) eliminate all periodontal pathosis; (3) correct gingival deformities; (4) move ...

A temporary fixed partial denture
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1970Abstract A technique for constructing temporary acrylic resin fixed partial dentures makes it possible to replace a missing tooth in one appointment. This technique avoids the problems of the patient being toothless while a fixed restoration is made.

A screw-connected fixed partial denture
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1983This technique provides one solution to the problem of using tilted abutment teeth for a fixed partial denture. It provides good retention without excessive tooth destruction and without excessive contour in the completed restoration.

The provisional fixed partial denture
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975A discussion of the rationale and requirements of the provisional restoration in fixed prosthetic dentistry has been presented. The imporatnce of this phase of restorative densitry and a survey of techniques for making interim restorations were gleaned from a review of the literature.
