Fixed points of products and the strong fixed point property
Order, 1987This problem motivates the present work: If ordered sets X and Y both have the fixed point property for order preserving maps has their product as well? Here we present a related condition — the so-called strong fixed point property — which arises from naive attempts to solve the problem.

the importance of the following Problem. Let A : X—*Y be a mapping (not necessarily linear) of a topological space X into a topological space Y. Under what conditions is A (X) open in F? The aim of this paper is to give a particular solution of this problem in the case of mappings A : X—>X of a Banach space X into itself.

Fixed-point numbers implement floating-point operations using ordinary integers. This is accomplished through clever use of scaling and allows systems without explicit floating-point hardware to work with floating-point values effectively. In this chapter we explore how to define and store fixed-point numbers, how to perform signed arithmetic with ...

An economic system, which consists of a number of relationships among the relevant factors, is modelled as a system of equations or inequalities of certain unknowns, whose solution represents a specific state in which the system settles. This is typically exemplified by the Walrasian competitive economy (Walras, 1874), consisting of the interaction of ...
