Effects of chronic browsing on life‐history traits of an irruptive large herbivore population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study aimed to determine the relationship between diet quality, body mass, and size (hind foot length), and female reproduction and sought to identify the mechanism by which high density under severe food limitations is maintained. Our results demonstrated that sika deer introduced to Nakanoshima Island have maintained high densities through high ...

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Sigma-terms and axial charges for hyperons and charmed baryons

open access: yes, 2014
We present results for the $\sigma$-terms and axial charges for various hyperons and charmed baryons using $N_f=2+1+1$ twisted mass fermions. For the computation of the three-point function we use the fixed current method.

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

The existence and uniqueness of solution for linear system of mixed Volterra-Fredholm integral equations in Banach space

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2020
In this paper, a linear system of mixed Volterra-Fredholm integral equations is considered. The problem of existence and uniqueness of its solution is investigated and proved in a complete metric space by using the Banach fixed-point theorem.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Approximation of homomorphisms and derivations on non-Archimedean random Lie C∗-algebras via fixed point method

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2012
In this paper, using fixed point methods, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of random homomorphisms in random C∗-algebras and random Lie C∗-algebras and of derivations on non-Archimedean random C∗-algebras and non-Archimedean random Lie C ...

Three Dimensional Nonlinear Sigma Models in the Wilsonian Renormalization Method

open access: yes, 2003
The three dimensional nonlinear sigma model is unrenormalizable in perturbative method. By using the $\beta$ function in the nonperturbative Wilsonian renormalization group method, we argue that ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric nonlinear $\sigma$ models are ...

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Almost multi-quadratic mappings in non-Archimedean spaces

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2020
In this article, we introduce the generalized multi-quadratic mappings and then describe them as a equation. As a special case of such mappings, we study the Hyers-Ulam stability of multi-quadratic mappings in non-Archimedean spaces by applying a fixed ...
