Alveolar ridge rehabilitation to increase full denture retention and stability

open access: yesDental Journal, 2010
Background: Atrophic mandibular alveolar ridge generally complicates prostetic restoration expecially full denture. Low residual alveolar ridge and basal seat can cause unstable denture, permanent ulcer, pain, neuralgia, and mastication difficulty.

Reimagining the White Child as Other: Taika Waititi's Decolonial Play in James and the Giant Peach With Taika and Friends

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines how James and the Giant Peach with Taika and Friends (JGPTF) (2020) challenges the colonial logics embedded in Roald Dahl's construction of the universal white child. Through collaborative digital play, humour and Māori relational epistemologies, Taika Waititi unsettles James's position as the normative child of futurity,

Estimating Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) length at first maturity from their age, sex and temperature experience around South Georgia

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) are a long‐lived, slow‐growing deep‐sea species endemic to the Southern Hemisphere and the focus of longline fisheries managed to ensure sustainable exploitation. Managing the fisheries relies on accurate stock assessments that include pertinent biological and exploitation processes.

Black Carp Mylopharyngodon piceus reproductive development and maturation in the Mississippi River basin

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Black Carp Mylopharyngodon piceus are native to most major east Asian drainages and are internationally cultured for use as a food‐fish or a biological control for molluscs. We describe the reproductive biology of Black Carp from the growing invasive population in the Mississippi River basin through examination of incidental commercial ...

Warming Has Limited Effects on Carbon‐Use Efficiency of Wheat and Upland Rice Plants—Evidence From a 13CO2 Labelling Study

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant carbon‐use efficiency (CUE) is a key parameter quantifying the net carbon gain with respect to gross carbon fixation. Although it is critical for carbon cycle models, it is often assigned an empirical value due to measurement difficulty. Uncertainty remains whether CUE is affected by warming. We quantified CUE in wheat (Triticum aestivum)

A Case of Complete Denture with Severely Atrophic Alveolar Ridges and Flabby-Gum Tissue

open access: yesNihon Hotetsu Shika Gakkai Zasshi, 2004

Congenital Skin Sloughing in the Setting of Hydrops Fetalis Secondary to Congenital Diffuse Lymphangiectasia Mimicking Epidermolysis Bullosa

open access: yesPediatric Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present a case where the combination of severe hydrops fetalis, lymphangiectasia, and skin desquamation created a clinical picture that masqueraded as epidermolysis bullosa (EB). A neonate presented at birth with severe hydrops fetalis and extensive skin sloughing.

Caenorhabditis elegans as an in vivo model system for human inherited primary arrhythmia syndromes

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Most genes involved in inherited primary arrhythmia syndromes (IPAS) are conserved in Caenorhabditis elegans, where genetic manipulation enables functional characterization of variants, identification of regulatory proteins, and in vivo drug testing.
