Studies on the mechanism of flame retarding

Thermochimica Acta, 1984
Two lignins, of different carbohydrate content, were pyrolysed before and after treatment with inorganic salts. Lignin, which is relatively free of carbohydrate, was inert to the salts: its DTA curve did not change. The DTA curve of lignin, associated with about 50% carbohydrate, showed a shift of the exothermic peak to a higher temperature and the ...

Flame retardancy and its mechanism of polymers flame retarded by DBDPE/Sb2O3

Journal of Central South University of Technology, 2008
The flammability characterization and thermal composition of polymers flame retarded by decabromodiphenylethane (DBDPE) and antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) were studied by cone calorimeter and thermogravimetry (TG). The results show that ABS/DBDPE/Sb2O3 has the similar flammability parameters and thermal composition curves to ABS/DBDPO/Sb2O3.

Flame retardant effect and mechanism of benzoxazine as synergist in intumescent flame‐retardant polyoxymethylene

Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 2020
Benzoxazine monomers of traditional bisphenol‐A benzoxazine (BA‐a) and bisphenol‐A benzoxazine containing trialkoxysilane (BA‐a‐Si) were synthesized and incorporated into polyoxymethylene/ammonium polyphosphate/melamine (POM/APP/ME) to improve the fire retardancy of POM.

Flame retardancy and mechanical properties of epoxy resin with the phytic acid‐derived flame retardant

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2023
AbstractThe synthesis and application of the bio‐derived flame retardant can meet the current requirements for the high‐efficient and sustainable development of flame retardants. Therefore, using phytic acid (PA), 9,10‐dihydro‐9‐oxa‐10‐phosphaphenanthrene‐10‐oxide (DOPO), and piperazine as raw materials, a PA‐derived flame retardant (PAPDOPO) was ...

Effect of microencapsulation flame retardant on flame retardancy and mechanical properties of rigid polyurethane foams

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2023
AbstractA microencapsulated flame retardant PMDOPO was synthesized by solution blending method using EGDMA as initiator and AIBN as cross‐linking agent. Rigid polyurethane foams were prepared in a one‐step process. PMDOPO was incorporated into the foams by blending with polycarbonate diols (PCDL) and foaming additives.

Flame retardancy and mechanical properties of a novel intumescent flame‐retardant unsaturated polyester

Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, 2014
A novel macromolecular intumescent flame retardant (MIFR) was synthesized. Unsaturated polyester (UP) filled with MIFR as flame‐retardant additive was prepared. The effects of MIFR on properties such as tensile strength, impact strength, flame‐retardant behavior, thermal stability, and morphology of char were studied.

Comparison of Flame-retardancy Property and Mechanism between a Phosphate Ester and a Phosphoramine Flame-retardants

Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Mater. Sci. Ed., 2021
A halogen-free flame-retardant (hydroquinone bis (N, N’-diarylphosphoramidate), 4N-HDP) containing phosphorus-nitrogen was synthesized. Its structure was characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR and 31P-NMR).

Investigations into the Mechanisms of Flame Retardation on Wool

Textile Research Journal, 1977
A number of flame-retardant systems have been applied to wool, and their flame-inhibiting efficiencies in atmospheres containing oxygen and nitrous oxide have been compared in order to explore the mechanisms by which they operate. The retardant systems investigated include phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, sulfamic acid, and their ammonium salts ...

A new mechanism of flame retardancy for polyurethanes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1973
A chemical model is outlined which gives a simple description of flame-retardant efficiency of organic bromides in flexible polyurethane foam systems. The mechanism suggests dehydrobromination by an interplay of SN1 and SN2 reactions in intramolecular and intermolecular processes.
