Flame retardancy, thermal, and mechanical properties of mixed flame retardant modified epoxy asphalt binders

Construction and Building Materials, 2014
The epoxy asphalt (EA) binder has been widely used for the pavement on the steel plate deck and in tunnels. In this study, horizontal burning and limiting oxygen index (LOI) were conducted to evaluate the effects of mixed decabrombromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) and antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) on flame retardancy for epoxy asphalt binder.

Flame retardant mechanism of phosphorous-containing green flame retarded epoxy: a molecular dynamics study

Proceedings of the International Conference on Fire Safety Engineering Research and Practice
Flame-retardant (FR) chemistry of epoxy resins (EP) is microscopic and sophisticated, where retardant additives are engineered at the local polymer chains to facilitate carbonisation and radical exchanges during pyrolysis. Although analyrical experiments have been extensively performed to elucidate the thermal degradation characteristics of FR ...

A P/N flame retardant for polyester-cotton fabrics: Flame retardancy, mechanical properties and antibacterial property

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
A phosphorus‑nitrogen synergistic flame retardant (named POI) was obtained by the chemical reaction between phenylphosphonic acid (PPOA) and polyethyleneimine (PEI), and used to give the flame retardancy of PTCO. The effects of PPOA and POI on various properties of PTCO were investigated. PPOA obviously improved the flame retardancy of PTCO/PPOA, while

Development of a Sustainable Biobased Flame-Retardant Microcapsule and Its Flame-Retarding Mechanism on Asphalt Combustion

Langmuir
To develop an efficient, sustainable, and eco-friendly biobased flame-retardant microcapsule suitable for the working environments of tunnel asphalt pavement and reveal its flame-retarding mechanism on asphalt combustion, microencapsulated amylopectin (MAMP) was first prepared using an in situ polymerization method.
