Simulation of hydrogen auto-ignition in a turbulent co-flow of heated air with LES and CMC approach [PDF]
Large-Eddy Simulations (LES) with the first order Conditional Moment Closure (CMC) approach of a nitrogen-diluted hydrogen jet, igniting in a turbulent co-flowing hot air stream, are discussed. A detailed mechanism (nine species, 19 reactions) is used to

Burned Gas Characteristics of Laminar Lifted Flame at the Beginning of Stream Heating
This research experimentally investigates the exhaust gas characteristics of a methane-air lifted-jet flame with elevated stream temperatures up to 450 K. Emission indices of NOx and CO were measured by direct gas sampling using a gas detector tube.

A Correlation for the Flame Height in "Group" Fires
A correlation of flame heights is presented for recent experiments of merging group fires produced from arrays of gaseous burners. The correlation is based on two considerations: a) the air entrainment up to the flame height is proportional to the stoichiometric requirements for combustion of the fuel and b)the air entrained is equal to the side area ...

Embedded Direct‐Written Organic Micro‐TEGs for High‐Efficiency Skin‐Heat Harvesting
A finite‐element–guided design of direct‐written organic micro‐thermoelectric generators is presented for efficient skin‐heat harvesting. Embedding PEDOT:PSS/PBFDO thermoelectric legs within flexible substrates suppresses interfacial heat losses and enhances vertical heat flow.

A Vortex Model for Wall Flame Height
A two-dimensional vortex model is developed to describe flames on burning walls. The flame is considered a region of intense vorticity generation and is modeled by an equivalent vortex filament. Flame height is predicted by match ing the induced airflow to stoichiometric requirements based on wall mass loss rate or energy release rate.

High pressure flame system for pollution studies with results for methane-air diffusion flames [PDF]
A high pressure flame system was designed and constructed for studying nitrogen oxide formation in fuel air combustion. Its advantages and limitations were demonstrated by tests with a confined laminar methane air diffusion flame over the pressure range ...

Computing wildfire behaviour metrics from CFD simulation data [PDF]
In this article, we demonstrate a new post-processing methodology which can be used to analyse CFD wildfire simulation outputs in a model-independent manner. CFD models produce a great deal of quantitative output but require additional post-processing to
