Flame Spread and Extinction over Electrical Wire Under Transverse Acoustic Waves

open access: yesFire
Acoustic fire suppression is a novel and environmentally friendly fire-extinguishing method. Electrical wires, as an important material in electrical systems, are a major cause of fires when short-circuited.

Significance of flame-spread results

open access: yes, 1978
Tests for the flammability of materials and for flame spread are described. Difficulties in interpreting the results of such tests are discussed, particularly in regard to foamed plastics and non-homogeneous specimens such as composites of foamed plastic and metal.

Development of fire-resistant wood structural panels [PDF]

open access: yes
Structural panels made with Xylok 210 resin as the binder had a burn-through resistance at least equal to the structural panels made with Kerimid 500. Therefore, because of its comparative ease of handling, Xylok 210 was selected as the resin binder to ...

Neuroprotective Effects of Time‐Restricted Feeding Combined With Different Protein Sources in MPTP‐Induced Parkinson's Disease Mice Model and Its Modulatory Impact on Gut Microbiota Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) exerts protein‐dependent neuroprotective effects in an MPTP‐induced Parkinson's disease model. In casein‐fed mice, TRF improves gut barrier integrity and reduces neuroinflammation, possibly via modulation of Allobaculum and BCAAs.

Influence of Cable Spacing on Flame Interaction and Combustion Characteristics of Parallel Thermoplastic Cables

open access: yesFire
Cable fires pose significant risks to electrical infrastructures, and cable spacing plays a crucial role in influencing fire propagation behaviors. In this study, the combustion characteristics of two parallel thermoplastic cables under varying spacing ...

Microgravity Flame Spread in Exploration Atmospheres: Pressure, Oxygen, and Velocity Effects on Opposed and Concurrent Flame Spread [PDF]

open access: yes
Microgravity tests of flammability and flame spread were performed in a low-speed flow tunnel to simulate spacecraft ventilation flows. Three thin fuels were tested for flammability (Ultem 1000 (General Electric Company), 10 mil film, Nomex (Dupont) HT90-

Selective Conversion of Polyolefin Waste to Branched Alkanes via Methane‐Free Tandem Hydrocracking–Isomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Scheme illustrating the selective conversion of plastic waste to isomerized C4‐C12 products using RuSZ1 under different reaction conditions. ABSTRACT In recent years, catalytic hydrocracking has emerged as a promising waste‐to‐feedstock solution for processing plastic waste.

Islet Amyloid Polypeptide Modelled to Simulate Diabetes Co‐Oligomerized with β‐Amyloid 1‐42 Reproducing the Pathological Cascade of Alzheimer's Disease in Human Cerebral Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) was used to mimic T2DM, and Aβ42‐hIAPP co‐oligomers were delivered into the human mature cerebral organoids (COs), which reproduce typical AD pathology and significant neuronal death more closely resembling that of AD patients.
