A Model for Ceiling Flame Spread
In this paper, an approach for modeling flame spread beneath a pyrolysing surface of a charring solid is developed. The presented model consists of a one-dimensional ceiling flame spread submodel based on SQW equation developed for upward flame spread, and a one-dimensional pyrolysis submodel.

Critical Criterion for Flame Spread Acceleration of Concave Surfaces with Different Curvatures
Concave surface is a common geometry in both industrial buildings and natural environments; the flame spread behaviors on this special surface are worth studying, while few studies have been completed yet.

Controlling Mechanisms of Flame Spread
Abstract Recent advances in the experimental study of the mechanisms controlling the spread of flames over the surface of combustible solids are summarized in this work. The heat transfer and gas phase chemical kinetic aspects of the flame spread process are addressed separately for the spread of flames in oxidizing flows that oppose or concur with the

Objectives While the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

Downward flame spread over PMMA spheres
Experiments were conducted to measure downward flame spread over PMMA spheres, and an underpinning theoretical basis was developed to explain the relevant mechanisms governing flame spread over spherical geometries. Flame spread over a sphere was classified into two distinct regimes, that being spread over the upper and lower hemispheres.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...
