Sensing flame structure by process tomography [PDF]
Non-intrusive visualization of the structure of flames can offer us many advantages in studying the reaction mechanisms of combustion and observing special distributions of the parameters required for the development of equipment such as jet engines and gas turbines.

Experimental Study of Coflow Propane—Air Laminar Diffusion Flames at Subatmospheric Pressures
The effect of pressure on the flame’s physical structure and soot formation of the coflow propane—air laminar diffusion flames was studied experimentally at subatmospheric pressures from 30 to 101 kPa.

Experimental Study on Dynamic Combustion Characteristics in Swirl-Stabilized Combustors
An experimental study was performed to investigate the combustion instability characteristics of swirl-stabilized combustors. A premixed gas composed of ethylene and air was burned under various flow and geometric conditions.

Flowfield-flame structure interactions in an oscillating swirl flame [PDF]
A swirling methane-air diffusion flame at atmospheric pressure is stabilized in a gas turbine model combustor with good optical access. The investigated flame with a thermal power of 10 kW and an overall equivalence ratio of 0.75 exhibits pronounced thermoacoustic oscillations at a frequency of 295 Hz.

Dynamics of Laterally Propagating Flames in X-ray Bursts. I. Burning Front Structure [PDF]
We investigate the structure of laterally-propagating flames through the highly-stratified burning layer in an X-ray burst. Two-dimensional hydrodynamics simulations of flame propagation are performed through a rotating plane-parallel atmosphere ...
