Flame structure of methane inverse diffusion flame

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2014
Abstract This paper presents high speed images of OH-PLIF at 10 kHz simultaneously with 2D PIV (particle image velocimetry) measurements collected along the entire length of an inverse diffusion flame with circumferentially arranged methane fuel jets.

Turbulence Effects on Flame Speed and Flame Structure

AIAA Journal, 1979
Turbulence effects on methane-air flames stabilized in grid turbulence were investigated through measurements of flame speed and mean and fluctuating flame temperature profiles. Published turbulent flame speed correlations were able to correlate the experimental flame speed data but were contradictory in indicating flame structure and combustion ...

Flame-structure studies of CF3Br-inhibited methane flames

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1973
Low-pressure flat flames have been probed with a molecular-beam sampling system coupledto a modulated-beam mass spectrometer. The purpose of the study is to determine and compare the microstructure of normal CH 4 -O 2 -Ar flames, and those inhibited by CF 3 Br, in order to provide some basis for an understanding of how inhibition is effected in this ...

RDX flame structure

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1994
Nonintrusive diagnostics were used to measure temperature and species profiles during neat RDX deflagration at 1 atm. UV-visible absorption was measured to obtain absolute concentration profiles of NO, NO 2 , CN, NH, H 2 CO, and OH. Temperature and species concentrations were obtained by spectral fitting.

Experimental investigation of effects of pulsed injection on flow structure and flame development in a kerosene-fueled scramjet with pilot hydrogen

The Physics of Fluids, 2022
The effects of pulsed injection on the flow structure and flame development in a scramjet were investigated experimentally with a pilot hydrogen equivalence ratio (ER) of 0.1 and a kerosene ER of 0.3; the pilot hydrogen was used to enhance the kerosene ...

Flame structures of H2S—Air diffusion flames

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1981
Diffusion flames of rich hydrogen sulfide-air mixtures were studied by the point to point temperature and comcentration profile method, measuring H 2 S, O 2 , N 2 , SO 2 , H 2 O and H 2 concentrations. Computation of overall reaction rates based on the values measured indicates that the flame is comprised of three distinct zones in which the ...
